Our Mission Statement
The mission of New Mexico Professional School Counselors is to provide Comprehensive School Counseling Programs, implemented by professional school counselors, and based on the National Model to every student. These programs will be preventative in design, developmental in nature, multi-culturally appropriate, comprehensive in their scope and in alignment with the New Mexico Public Education Department's goals and mission. This program will promote student success through a focus on three domains, (1) academic achievement, (2) social/emotional and (3) career development. The Comprehensive School Counseling Program will ensure equity for all students, accountability for each student's success, and provides students the skills necessary to succeed in the academic environment, as well as in our complex society, while keeping their valuable family traditions and values as the foundation of who they are. Additionally, collaboration with parents, educators, and the community will provide students with career, and educational opportunities which will foster post secondary success in a diverse and technological society.
