New Mexico Comprehensive School Counseling Program Guide |
Counselors use program audits (Appendix AS-4) to assess how well the program is being implemented and how it has had an impact on students. Audits serve to set the standards for the school counseling program. The program audit helps school counselors to breakdown and analyze each program component. The program audit provides evidence of the program's alignment with the ASCA's National Model for School Counseling Programs. The primary purpose for collecting this information is to guide future actions within the program and to improve future results for students. The audit aligns with and includes all national model program components.
Ideally, the program audit is conducted by each distict (?) annually, in the spring. After completing the audit, responses are analyzed to determine:
As districts ( schools ?) begin to revise their program and work toward completing and implementing the specific criterion, they may choose to either present each section to the State ( district?) administration for acceptance as completed or complete the entire program before presenting it for acceptance in its entirety. (Should there be a time limit here for each district?) The results should drive the program goals, training and behavior for the following year.
